ScarWork® Scar Tissue Massage

ScarWork® is a restorative therapy developed by American practitioner Sharon Wheeler.

All scars – whether formed as a result of an operation or an accident, recently or many years ago – can feel tight, uncomfortable, and restrictive, and in some cases can lead to reduced sensation. This gentle restorative technique uses specially developed movements to mobilise and soften thick scar tissue, improving the look and feel of the affected area and reducing associated pain.

What to expect from your ScarWork® treatment

During a scar tissue massage, the quality of the scar tissue will change quickly and easily. Lumps, gaps, ridges, holes, bumps, knots and strings in the tissue of the scar and surrounding area will be smoothed in such a way that enables them to integrate better with the rest of the myofascial system.

Unlike many other scar treatment and correction therapies, ScarWork® is rarely painful, and the treatment is always delivered according to your own comfort levels.

When the session is over, changes in the appearance, feeling and function of the scar can be profound – and, in most cases, these results are long-lasting. We would recommend a course of between 4 and 8 treatments, depending on your requirements and goals.
